EASO has decided to establish an Expert Pool. This will be a key tool to be able to provide training continuously with an even higher quality.
One of the challenges for the future EAC training within EASO was to secure a good supply of EAC experts and trainers. This was pointed out by the EAC National Contact Points at their meeting in June. Thus the meeting recommended that an Expert trainer pool was to be established. During the beginning of the autumn EASO showed proof of their perceptiveness and decided to establish such a pool.
An invitation to apply to this pool was sent out to all GDISC countries as well as the European Commission and the UNHCR and according to EASO the response has been great. Around 135 of the applying experts fulfilled the criteria for being part of this pool.
This pool will consist of three different “sub pools”. The first one, the EAC Trainer Pool, will contain the ones who are willing to be trainer for the train the trainer sessions. The second one, EAC Content Expert Pool, will consist of experts for the work with updating of the modules and as well for developing new modules. Finally, the third sub pool will be the EAC Didactic Expert Pool where experts with didactic and e-learning skills will be involved.
The idea is to use experts from this pool already from the beginning of next year in the planned trainings and other activities. In order to prepare the expert trainers better for their role as trainer some of them will be invited to a first activity in the beginning of December in Malta. The aim of the seminar is to further increase the didactic skills of the trainers and to build a stronger network between them. This will be an important step forward for the improvement of the quality of EAC training.
